DIY bug repellent for dogs

Warm weather is just around the corner! As the sun shines brighter and the snow begins to melt, prevent pesky insects from bugging your dog with this all-natural DIY bug repellent.

This DIY bug repellent is easy to make, and contains all-natural ingredients that are good for you and your canine companion:

¼ cup aloe vera gel
¼ tsp neem oil
3 drops cedarwood essential oil
3 drops lavender essential oil
3 drops lemongrass essential oil

The final bug repellent should be the consistency of hair conditioner, so slowly stir in up to ¼ cup filtered water or geranium hydrosol.

This recipe makes half a cup of lotion. Rub a small amount through your dog’s coat every few days. Concentrate on the places pest congregate, such as in his ruff, between the legs and around the ears. Reapply after swimming, or if you know you are going to a bug-infested area.
