GreaterGood.org is still actively helping pets affected by Hurricane Maria in various ways, including shelter renovations and repairs, and food donations for shelter dogs and cats on the island. Here’s how you can support their efforts!
In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, GreaterGood.org, a leading non-profit for the health and well-being of people, pets, and the planet, is providing ongoing critical support to Puerto Rico. Victims of the storm are still suffering from lack of water, power outages and other issues, and the organization is encouraging people to support their disaster relief efforts.
To date, GreaterGood.org has awarded more than $3.7 million worth of product donations (pet food, veterinary supplies, etc.) and cash grants to those affected by the hurricane. Some of their ongoing active recovery efforts in Puerto Rico that still need support include:
- Pet Food Donations:A donation of over 115,000 pounds of high-quality pet food was recently distributed amongst 19 support and shelter groups around the island.
- Infrastructure:A project is currently underway to renovate and repair a shelter on the Western side of the island that has the potential to house more than 200 homeless pets.
- Spay & Neuter Services: Ongoing support is needed (monetary and supplies) for the Humane Society of United States Coalition to help spay and neuter 20,000 pets on the island.
